Hey Colin, great article. I'm just trying to find out all I can about the HGI Fiasco for a personal project.

Just thought I'd mention, The town hall's meeting room DID at one point double as a court room, not sure if it still is used for anything of that sort, but that's why it looks the way it does.

Hello..............born in Amherst, my dad worked in the mines....moved to Saint John, my dad won a car....we all moved to Hamilton Ontario......I eventually moved to Kitchener/Waterloo where I went to University and decided to stay here....a similar story for so many people back in the late fifties...now I'm considering coming back to your area.....if I do, I'll bring some very positive ideas with me.....never say never.....the solution is almost always in the problem......so keep at it, keep sluggin' away at getting whatever you can done......without some industry, you may have to put your money into tourism and that museum sounds like a natural attraction that's near enough to benefit from...anyway, I enjoyed your article and will stay in touch...........all the best...........RonMacDonald..

Thanks for the comment, John.
I like the idea of having a ferry crossing from Parrsboro to Wolfville. It's an idea I've thought of in the past as well. In fact there used to be a ferry service, as you may know. I think all it would take to get it going again is someone with the drive to do it and the funds to get started.
I have to admit I'm surprised that your daughter found this article so quickly. I only posted it last night, and I'll admit I just assumed no one other than a few of my friends might read it. That said, I'm very happy that you did.

This article was sent to me by my daughter, Danielle Gustafson, who resides in San Jose, CA. A very interesting article and I commend the optimism of mayor Doug Robinson. I was raised and schooled in Parrsboro having moved there with our family and parents Fraser and Margaret Mackay. I now reside in Lake Wylie, SC and the Town of Parrsboro still holds a very special place in our hearts. I was very fortunate to have purchased The Mackay family cottage on Pier Road, First Beach and spend precious summer weeks there with family and friends. I would like to offer a possible suggestion that may or may not be far fetched as relates to attracting more tourism to the area. We have many friends all across the USA that from time to time tell me of an exciting trip they had taken or would like to take someday on "The Cat" high speed hovercraft ferry from Maine to Yarmouth. How about the same concept for a nine (9) mile crossing from Parrsboro to Wolfville, NS saving a couple of hundred miles and precious time driving to the valley of Nova Scotia..? With the new Obama government in the United States printing new money at the rate of + Three (3) Trillion Dollars $$ this year.....the exchange value of the US dollar will be greatly diminished for the next number of years. An exciting Nova Scotia vacation experience for USA citizens is sure to come back stronger than ever so isn't it time to take advantage of this trend..? Food for thought..

Kerry Martens came to London in 2005 and claimed he wanted to invest into my Company. He met our lawyers and other advisors and confirmed his purchase of our shares. He also informed us that one of his Headz Games has secured the marketing rights from FIFA, the soccer world management group, for "The World Cup".
Basically, he turned out to be a real "Walter Mitty", without any agreement with FIFA. He was living in a complete dream world of his own. He cost us a great deal of money as he was very plausible but when he disappeared, we were really pleased to see the back of him.

Our sympathy goes out to the good people of Parrsboro.
It is such a pity that Canada cannot take his passport and citizenship away.

Regards
